Marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of Defence, Retired General Christopher Musa, has urged citizens to unite in faith and stand firmly behind the Armed Forces, stressing that national security remains the bedrock of peace and prosperity.

The Minister delivered this message during an inter-denominational church service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, attended by Christian faithful, senior government officials, Service Chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps, and respected clergy.

Speaking at the service, themed “Anchored on Hope: The Path to Divine Stability and Shared Prosperity,” was a major highlight of the national celebration, General Musa underscored the sacrifices of Nigeria’s security forces and the imperative of national cohesion, saying that as the Country mark 66 years of nationhood, he wished for a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation that remains unshakeable.

The Minister maintained that security is not merely an operational task; it is the foundation upon which national unity and shared prosperity are built. He reaffirmed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain committed to safeguarding sovereignty and restoring lasting peace across all regions.

He, however, called on citizens to remain steadfast, support the men and women in uniform, and unite in faith to build a nation anchored on divine stability. The service also featured prayers and reflections from national leaders. Senate President Godswill Akpabio prayed for harmony and sustainable peace, while Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, emphasized democratic stability as Nigeria prepares for future civic milestones.
