The Nigerian Navy has disowned the repeated circulation of fake recruitment notices on social media and other unauthorised platforms, purportedly announcing recruitment exercises. It emphasised that such notices are not official and should be disregarded.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, advised prospective applicants and the public to exercise caution and ignore recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites, or other sources.
He stressed that all official information regarding Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines, and categories, will be communicated solely through authorised channels. He noted that the official recruitment website is http://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while the Nigerian Navy’s main website is https://navy.mil.ng.

The Naval Spokesperson further warned against making payments to individuals, agents, or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment. He reiterated that entry into the Nigerian Navy is free of charge and that the Service does not permit third parties to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
He assured the public that the Nigerian Navy will continue to monitor and counter the spread of fraudulent recruitment information, urging reliance only on official communication channels for accurate and verified updates.
Security Affairs International recalled that a few weeks ago, similar fake recruitment notices were circulated, which the Nigerian Navy promptly debunked, warning the public against fraudsters and urging them to rely exclusively on its official websites.
