2025 Fruit Logistica: FMAFS partners ABG Paulas On Food Security in Africa

Stakeholders in the Agribusiness sub-sector gathered in Abuja at the instance of the collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security and ABG Paulas to discuss strategies and modalities for mobilization of participants to attend the 2025 Fruit Logistica holding 5th to 7th February 2025 in Berlin-Germany.

The meeting provided opportunity for stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities in Agricultural Production, Processing, Preservation, Packaging and Promotion-5Ps of Agriculture.

The Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security-Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON represented by Engr. A. M. Adebiyi- Director, Agric. Business & Marketing Department of the Ministry in his opening remarks acknowledge the challenges faced by the sector especially surrounding the issue of “farmgate pricing and purchasing” which provide brief case farmers reaping off farmers who have labored so much to bring farm produce for our consumption. He commended the ministry in improving agro-infrastructure especially storage, power supply and processing machineries that forms the bedrock of value addition for positive agric-business drive.

He thanked the management of ABG Paulas Germany for attracting the German Agribusiness Alliance to partner with the ministry in areas of capacity building, improve processing capabilities and access to market and finance which the presummit is set to avail participants as the ministry makes effort to get relevant stakeholders to attend the 2025 Fruit Logistica Berlin-Germany.

Mr. Ambrose Okojie, Managing Director/CEO, ABG Paulas Germany, thanked the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security for accepting to partner with his organization, as well as in the mobilization of relevant stakeholders to attend the pre-summit and preparatory meeting for the 2025 Fruit Logisitca Trade and Exhibition and Conference holding in Berlin-Germany. He further briefed participants of the importance of the presummit which include but not limited to
• Opportunity to gain knowledge on reasons to attend the 2025 Fruit Logisitica;
• Discuss and Network with stakeholders on strategic alliance and partnership;
• Foster collaboration on how best to maximize the gains of the Fruit Logistica;

Referencing the outcome of the 2024 Fruit Logistica and research carried out on the challenges faced by Nigeria farmers in processing agro-produce to meet global standard, Mr. Ambrose Okojie said ABG Paulas decided to mobilize high level partners with expertise in International long term financing, international business legal drafting, solar and renewable energies as well as equipment.

The event also availed Her Royal Majesty Prof. Emeritus Hajarat Adeyeye to speak on MSME Finance Window from Bank of Industry (BOI), while the National President of AFAN-All Farmers Association of Nigeria and other specialized agro producers gave good will message, with a call to government at all levels to address the frequent insecurity affecting Nigeria farmers besides the growing effect of climate change amongst other challenges.
